It was a fun, fast and close Wiver Wun. Kwazy slipped by Ethan/Carmalyn/Sarah just after the Brothers prompting them to jibe and head east. Marcos/Michele/Erik jibed too. That was wrong! Kwazy held north for another 5 minutes and jibed in better current. We blasted away from them and had a big lead UNTIL.... The wind had a lot of south in it and between the Carquinez bridge and Point Benecia we had to douse twice. They went to school behind us and only dropped once and caught up a bunch. At the Martinez bridge E/C/S jibed first and were leading. From there it was a long drag race in medium conditions. Kwazy (Colin/Rachel/Guillaume) hugged the south shore and got to the yellow buoys off the Naval station first and stretched from there, past the big left turn and by the foilers off Sherman Island. From there it was reachy and we were being caught but hung on to finish about 2:37. So after a 10:40 start it was a 4 hour race. Averaged 9.6 knots, top for us 16 over the ground. Marcos said 17? A minute back to M/M/E and a couple more to E/C/S.
