A fast and fun day heading up to Wio Vista from Wichmond on the Wiver Wun. A strong flood current pushed the fleet up the delta after the 11:30 start at the Richmond breakwater. A jib reach off the start with Kwazy taking the early lead led to kites popping at R2 off the long wharf and the wabbits were off to the waces! The fleet had a great run through San Pablo Bay on a tight fast reach with Bad Hare Day taking a better line on approach to Carquinez and taking the lead. From there the order stayed consistent with gains and losses throughout the day but no more passes. Bad crossed the finish line ~1610 after just over four and a half hours of sailing with the rest of the fleet finishing within about 15 minutes. There were no major breakages or knockdowns, so the Wylie Wabbit Wiver Wun Wet Windex trophy went to Just A Hare bringing some new crew along for the ride. Big thanks to Jim & Treacy Malloy and Anna Desenberg for getting us started and providing a ride for the BBQ supplies. |
